Giving Diapers, Giving Hope

Policies and Agreement

(Accepting the Policy and Agreement will take you to the application. Please read carefully before accepting.)

Please note: If you do not provide documentation attached to your application, we will NOT review your application!!

We are a cloth diaper lending service for low income families. We are a Not For Profit organization and run completely on donations and volunteers. We are NOT a diaper service. We lend the diapers to the parents/guardians and they are responsible to do the washing themselves, with either a washing machine or the diapers can be washed either in a basin or camp washer if desired or needed. We lend all kinds of diapers. We do try to keep similar style diapers together (prefolds/flats together, pocket diapers together, all in one diapers together, etc.), to make it easier to switch over to cloth diapers. However, this is dependent on which diapers we have in our inventory.

There is no cost to you for the diapers. Since this began as a local foundation to serve local families in North East, Massachusetts, all applicants who are outside of that area need to pay for shipping of the diapers to them.  We charge a flat rate of $35, which covers the shipping to you and then back to us when you are done and Paypal fees.  Due to packing many boxes of diapers and then not having people pay when we were charging exact shipping fees, we are now charging a flat rate fee and it must be paid prior to packing your box of diapers.  This amount was reached by averaging prior exact shipping fees.

It can take approximately 2 weeks to process your application once submitted.  If you haven’t heard from us after 3 weeks of sending your application, please feel free to email us and check the status of your application.  Once you receive an email saying you have been approved, you will be sent an invoice for shipping costs ($35) within a few days.  Once you have paid the shipping, your diapers will be packaged and sent within 48 hours.  Please keep in mind, that we are 2 moms running this whole organization.  The mission is something we strongly believe in, but we do have families and jobs aside from GDGH.  While we do the best we can to stick to our time table, please be understanding if the times are not exact.

If you do use our service there is an optional but recommended $10 donation for each month that you use the diapers. This goes towards repairing, replacing and purchasing more diapers for our stash so we can help as many families as possible.  If you lose or ruin a diaper while in your care, it is suggested to donate the cost of the diaper/s so that we can purchase another diaper of similar quality. This is not mandatory but highly recommended so that we can continue to provide this service to other families.

You can find washing and care instructions on our website and you are welcome at any time to contact us to ask any questions that you may have. If you receive your diapers and they don’t fit or don’t work for you, let us know. Not all diapers fit the same and we are happy to swap them out for different sizes. This may mean that you will receive different kinds of diapers in return based on our inventory at the time.   If you do want to swap out diapers, you will be expected to pay the shipping costs to us and back to you (this is in addition to the original shipping costs).  While we would love to be able to pay shipping, it isn’t possible because we run on donations only.  We do not exchange diapers for cosmetic reasons, such as color, print or wanting a specific type of diaper.

Please keep in mind that Giving Diapers, Giving Hope is a cloth diaper lending foundation. This means when you are done with the diapers, you are agreeing to return the diapers to us and that you agree that you will not sell the diapers. Please note that we do our best to provide you with the best working diapers we can and many may be used diapers. Unless the diaper does not work due to quality issues, please do not complain about the diapers you received. We are happy to help with any questions you have and do our best to make each family happy and hope that all of our families appreciate the diapers they received and the help we are trying to give.

Clicking “Accept” is agreeing that you have read the above information, that you understand diapering care/washing and you agree to return the diapers when you are done with them. This is so we can help as many families as possible. It also means that you understand that falsifying information on your application or leaving out information for your benefit is fraud.  By clicking accept you are agreeing that you will not sell the diapers and understand that it is theft.  If you do, or if you are found to commit fraud, we will press criminal charges for theft and/or fraud.
